"Katie is so warm and truly gifted at what she does. She has an eye for detail- will let you know if your hair is out of place (she even fixed it for me), and she knows what poses/locations will make for good photos. She is very easy to work with and good at getting good photos out of moody kids. Highly recommend, excited to use her again."

FAQ

How many pictures will we receive?

A.Half sessions are guaranteed a minimum of 20 images and full sessions are guaranteed a minimum of 40 images.

That being said, I will include all the good photos in your gallery! I will take as many photos as the time allows for and we'll go as fast as the kids are able to keep up with prompts!

How soon will we get to see our photos?

A.It depends on how many galleries I have to edit ahead of yours. I will have your photos ready no longer than two weeks after your session!

How should we dress for our family session?

A.I strongly recommend neutrals, earth tones, or pastels--it's best to choose colors that will complement the natural outdoor scenery. Really bright or bold patterns and colors can distract from the main subject of the image (you!) as well as cast undesirable colors onto your faces.

Once you book a session with me, I will email you tips for choosing a color scheme, coordinating between family members, etc.

Will you help us with posing?

A.Absolutely! I will both help you with posing and also give prompts to encourage natural interactions so we can catch some of those sweet candid moments between family members.

What if my kids don't cooperate?

A.The #1 priority of the session is to keep things light and fun! We want to avoid scowls and tears in the photos so trying to coax out smiles and cooperation playfully is preferred over being stern. I'm a former public school teacher and have an extensive background in child development, so I'm really comfortable interacting with kids of any age, helping them feel at ease, and hopefully have fun during the photos! Whether your child cooperates perfectly, is shy and reserved, or is energetic and wild--I'm confident we can get some really special photos of your family!

That being said, if your child is able to listen and follow prompts relatively quickly, that allows us to move onto the next pose faster and ultimately get a bigger variety of photos. Once you book with me, I will email you all my tips for setting your child up for success during the session.

When should I schedule maternity photos?

A.The recommended time for maternity photos is 7-8 months along, or between 28-34 weeks!

Can I bring my pet?

A.Most breeds of dogs are welcome as long as the park/site allows for it and must be kept on a leash. Please keep in mind that pets (like toddlers!) can be unpredictable and may require extra time for posing. This could mean that you end up with less overall variety in your gallery. One factor to consider is if your kids are younger and will need extra posing time themselves, or if they are older and able to follow instructions easily. Depending on your kids' ages and family dynamic, you can decide if it's a priority to have your pet join the session!
